After several months of waiting, Samsung Galaxy Note Edge owners are finally getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the United States. The first batch of updates is rolling out right now.

Some time ago, Samsung provided a roadmap for its Galaxy products that will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.  Now its time for the Galaxy Note Edge to receive theirs.  The latest update is placed at 1GB in size.

TechRadar reported that aside from Galaxy Note Edge, several Galaxy models have received the update in most regions, including the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S5, and Galaxy Note 4. Both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge were launched with Marshmallow pre-installed.

It also added that the Galaxy Note 5 in U.S., for certain networks, has also been updated, while the Galaxy S6 Active is also getting one right now.

Galaxy Tablet units are also receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The Galaxy Tab S2's 9.7-inch and 8-inch models are getting the updates. However, it is still unknown if Galaxy Tab S and Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 will have theirs.

Unlocked versions of the Galaxy Note Edge in Europe, Canada and other regions have started recieving the update as well.

Meanwhile, Google is currently deploying its July security updates on its Nexus devices, and Samsung is already delivering it to their Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. T-Mobile's update is around 300MB in size. Verizon's Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 are also receiving the monthly update now, as with the Note 5 in Europe, Abchow stated in its report.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is a modified version of Android 5.0 Lollipop and will bring in many additional features.  One is Google Now on Tap, which allows users to quickly bring up information on whatever subject they are looking for. One needs to hold down the home button to activate it. The Doze is a new battery saving feature, while the App drawer puts the list of apps vertically rather than on multiple pages.
