Idol 3 from Alcatel OneTouch is considered to be an impressive smartphone released this year, according to The Verge.

Fans of the Idol 3 would be happy to know that a smaller version will hit North American markets this Friday — and this phone will also be a lot cheaper than its big brother.

Idol 3 may not have unique features nor extraordinary specs and is considered a low-end phone, but it has an interesting design and impressive performance for a price that's simply affordable.

Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 became a well-liked midrange device since its release just a few months ago. Now, Alcatel is finally staying true to its promise to provide a smaller Idol 3 to the U.S. and Canada markets.

It has been available for sale for quite a while, except in those aforementioned territories.

The smaller version sports a 4.7-inch display; it may not bear very similar specs as its older sibling, but this phone will come at a much affordable price.

As for the exterior, Idol 3 4.7 has the same design, camera specs, and front speakers as Idol 3 5.5. On the inside, the smaller phone only has a 720p display compared to 5.5's 1080p, a less powerful processor running with Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, and a 1.5GB RAM.

Idol 3 4.7 also has an internal storage capacity of 16GB and it can accommodate a microSD card.

The company also said that the smaller phone is compatible with Long-Term Evolution (LTE) networks from AT&T and T-Mobile in the United States, just like 5.5.

This affordable, smaller phone is being compared with Motorola's Moto G.

Idol 3 4.7 appears slimmer than Moto G, but it houses a small battery and how long it will last after a single charge remains to be seen on Friday, when people can get their hands on the model for only $180.
