Ford beefed up its truck while cutting down its weight, which will give drivers of the 2017 Ford Super Duty even more confidence when the going gets rough and tough.

"The bottom line is Super Duty customers will be able to tow and haul more than ever before," Craig Schmatz, chief engineer on the Super Duty program, said in a press release, according to CNet.

Ford's website says that the 2017 model of its Super Duty series is the only heavy-duty pickup truck with a body made of military-grade aluminum alloy. The company claims that it has the best towing power, payload, ride and handling of any Super Duty ever, thanks to what Ford describes as a fully boxed, high-strength steel frame, which is stiffer by as much as 24 times than the one that came before.

Moreover, the 2017 model is equipped with "the smartest, most capable tow rig" in the Super Duty series, which includes better engine-exhause braking, adaptive front steering and trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System, among others. It can also be fitted with up seven cameras for safety as it allows for a 360-degree of the surroundings.

In the dark, drivers can illuminate the way ahead with four low beam and four high beam headlamps, and it can provide equipment with power via its rear 400W/110V outlet. CNet reports that the other available options include the newest Sync 3 infotainment system, LED lighting both in the interior and exterior and variable-rack adaptive steering, among others.

The 2017 Ford Super Duty has upgraded powertrains: the 6.2-liter gasoline V-8, which features a new 6-speed automatic transmission for F-250 gas models; the 6.8-liter gasoline V-10, which has a TorqShift 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission; and the 6.7-liter Power Stroke Diesel V-8, which is equipped with a TorqShift 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.

The new truck will be available next year but the price has yet to be announced.
