The Nintendo Switch exclusive game "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" gets a new blade design from iconic Japanese animator Yasuomi Umetsu.

As Monolith Software continues its trickle of information about the upcoming role-playing video game, fans got a look at a new blade design on Nov. 6.

The latest blade to hit the Internet was Mei, a rare Dark-attribute Blade decorated with a barbed spear. It was designed by Umetsu, who also created the "Kite" series and "Mezzo Forte." According to DualShockers, Mei will be voiced by Sayaka Senbongi, who voiced Mumei in "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress."

Mei follows the release of Musubi, a goddess Blade with healing abilities, just a few days ago. This, on the other hand, was created by Kia Asamiya, author of classic manga series like "Silent Möbius," "Compiler" and "Martian Successor Nadesico." This angelic blade is voiced by Miki Takahashi, most popularly known for voicing Iris in "Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana."

The past weeks had been a slow yet exciting unveiling of Blades that will be available in the highly-anticipated game. These include the rare water-elemental Blade Yuuou, the uniquely designed Nyutsu, and the electric Raiko.

Blades play a big role in the fantasy game. "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" follows the adventures of a scavenger named Rex and his living Blade Pyra, who are in search of a fabled paradise he calls home. In this game, players will have to collect their own weaponized allies or Blades, and use each of their special skills to save the world from giant beasts.

Nintendo has been giving weekly Twitter updates on new characters, Blades, and factions, although there is still so much to know about the role-playing game. It also organized a full day of Nintendo Direct on Nov. 7.

"Xenoblade Chronicles 2" will hit the shelves on Dec. 1.
