Liz (Megan Boone) may either be dead or pregnant when the hit NBC series "The Blacklist" comes back after its winter hiatus in January.

The International Business Times takes showrunner Jon Bokenkamp for his word that the ex-FBI agent's life is in danger. According to the website, Liz may indeed end up dying, now that she is in the hands of the authorities. In the midseason finale, Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) and the Bureau succeeded in arresting her. Her partner, Red (James Spader), meanwhile, has eluded capture and is on the run.

According to the EW Spoiler Room, things will get so bad with Liz that she will need Ressler, Red, and estranged husband Tom (Ryan Eggold) to come together and aid her in getting out of jail. Liz is reportedly being kept in a glass box that previously served as Red's prison. Ressler will even resort to "nontraditional ways" to help his friend, whom he failed to save due to his work as an FBI agent.

Meanwhile, the series may also cater to Boone's pregnancy, which could mean there is a big chance that Liz may turn up with a baby bump. The actress is now pregnant with her first child and it is highly unlikely that she will be scrapped out of the drama soon, unless, her character indeed dies. In the past episode, Liz even snuck out on Red and met up with Tom. The two ended up sleeping together before she went on the run. Does this mean viewers will see a little Keen in the picture soon?

Bokenkamp said that they have not decided on this turn of event yet. He told Entertainment Weekly that the situation "plays in a number of ways," both in the story and Boone's condition. He shared that it was difficult to include the pregnancy in the series, as it already has a parental vibe to it, referring to the Red and Liz's relationship.

"It's really hard in a show that has — whether he's her father or not — a parental core to it. In a show that has a father-daughter type relationship, it's incredibly difficult to ignore the fact that our lead actress is pregnant. It's still being figured out exactly what that means," the showrunner explained.

"The Blacklist" season 3 will return on Jan. 7 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
