Star Wars Rebels season 3 spoilers: Darth Maul, mysterious character Bendu coming next season

Lucky fans got to experience firsthand sneak peeks of Star Wars Rebels, as well as the first two episodes of the Disney XD show at the recently concluded Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016.

The event which took place at the London's Excel Center, was an ultimate fan experience that featured panels, celebrity appearances and sneak peeks at various project on the pipeline for the growing franchise, Ecumenical Times reported.

But for those who did not attend the event, what's in store for the third season of Star Wars Rebels?

First off, hard core fans will be glad to see the re-emergence of a strong character from Star Wars Episode 1- The Phantom Menace – the Sith Lord Darth Maul, who was supposedly defeated and killed Obi-Wan Kenobi in the movie.

Apparently, he survived the battle and will make his return in Star Wars Rebels Season 3 to add more complications to the storyline.

"That's another bit of wonderful story, which is: What has Maul been up to? How did Maul get on this desolate planet? And we obviously don't answer those questions at this time, but it is stuff we've considered when we wrote these stories," Executive producer and co creator Dave Filoni shared in an IGN interview.

He also did not dismiss the possibility of a showdown between Darth Maul and Darth Vader, although this will not be immediately tackled this season.

Another character that is expected to be introduced is Bendu, who is somewhat an aberration because he is neither a Sith or a Jedi but is very good with using the Force.

Based on a report by Crave Online, Bendu is neither a good or evil character but whose purpose is to strengthen the connection between the blinded Kanan and the Force.

The third season of Star Wars Rebels will premiere in the fall on Disney XD.
