The late Carrie Fisher's Princess Leia had a bigger role to partake in the story of "Episode IX" in the whole "Star Wars" saga. However, due to her recent passing, Princess Leia will no longer be part of the upcoming film.

Fisher, who portrayed the legendary role of Princess Leia in the "Star Wars" saga, passed away last Dec. 27 due to a heart condition.

By then, the actress had already filmed half of her scenes for the upcoming "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" that is set to premiere this coming December. Her scenes may have been left undone, but Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that the film would not be altered to deal with Fisher's passing, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Princess Leia's story remains unfinished at the moment, but it was recently revealed that there were two key scenes for Fisher's character for episodes 8 and 9 of "Star Wars," which involved a reunion with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and a face-to-face with her son who killed Han Solo, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

While plans for these scenes remain hanging in the air, Fisher's brother and daughter — Todd Fisher and Billie Lourd — granted Disney permission to bring Fisher's Princess Lea in episode 9 of "Star Wars."

At the 2017 TCM Classic Film Festival in Los Angeles, Todd told New York Daily News, "Both of us were like, 'Yes, how do you take her out of it?' And the answer is, you don't."

However, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed with Entertainment Weekly that Princess Leia Organa will no longer be part of "Star Wars: Episode IX."

Kennedy said that Director Colin Trevorrow and co-writer Derek Connolly, along with the story team of the upcoming "Star Wars" film, had no choice but "to leave their original ideas behind" and start over.

Trevorrow and his crew still have to create a conclusion for Princess Leia's story, since she is still very present in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" and where the film left with her storyline is still unknown.

"Star Wars: Episode IX" is slated to premiere on May 24, 2019.
