Sony Xperia X Compact release date news: New Xperia X phone could be debuting Sept. 24?

Sony Mobile may be adding new iterations to its flagship lineup as speculations suggest that an Xperia X Compact edition is in the works for a Sept. 24 release.

GSM Arena reports that along with the Xperia X Compact, Sony Mobile will also be launching the Xperia XR. The two new lineup additions will supposedly debut in the 2016 IFA, scheduled to commence later this week. Meanwhile, after the 2016 IFA launch, the Xperia X Compact will reportedly have its global release by Sept. 24.

Though Sony has yet to come out with its presentation plans for the trade show, rumors of the Xperia X Compact have already circulated online previously, as the tech maker has supposedly confirmed the two new additions on its website. According to the supposed leaks, both the Xperia X Compact and the Xperia XR will provide "pictures without blur," an emphasis on their image-capture specs as main features. It remains to be seen if the setup will be a higher version of the cameras already in other Sony Mobile flagships like the recently-released Xperia X Performance.

Just recently, the Xperia X Compact has been reportedly sighted in a benchmark website. Should the specs list prove true, the next Sony Mobile flagship will carry a Snapdragon 820 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM. Meanwhile, although a late 2016 release, the Sony Xperia X Compact will still feature Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 right out of the box, though it can be expected that an update to Android Nougat 7.0 will soon follow. Being a Compact version, the upcoming release will feature a 4.6-inch display with full HD resolution.

Other listed specs include 64GB of onboard storage, as well as a 16MP main camera at the back. Aside from expected features, the setup is also listed to capture 4K videos. The selfie shooter at the front is an 8MP camera.
