A new installment of "Sherlock Holmes" could be filmed this year, Robert Downey Jr. teased.

Fans of the "Sherlock Holmes" franchise are already waiting for the third installment of the film since the release of "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" in 2011, but the production had been stalled for almost five years.

But while making the press rounds for "Captain America: Civil War," Downey talked about his other blockbuster movie franchise based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's best-selling novels and hinted the movie production could start sometime this year.

"We're talking about it right now. We can do some preliminary stuff," Downey said in an interview that was exclusively reported by Shortlist.

But because he and the other cast of the film all have hectic schedules, Downey explained that filming the third Sherlock movie became a challenge. "If we could shoot it on Skype, we could have the whole [movie] done in a week," the actor explained. "When we're making those Sherlock movies it is off the hook. [So] we'll attempt to make one this year. It really is a big deal to go and do those movies. I'm tired all the time, but I'm so excited about it."

The actor admitted that he and film director Guy Ritchie have yet to meet up to discuss the film, but he said that he is looking forward to discuss the movie with the film maker during the London stop of his press tour rounds for his Marvel movie.

"He'll say 'I'll meet you on my bike', all that sort of macho stuff," Downey stated. "I've always considered riding a bike in London as taking your life in your own hands. Guy makes it look easy."

But while the third "Sherlock Holmes" movie has yet to materialize, Downey has a lot of upcoming films to keep him busy in the coming days. It includes "Avengers: Infinity War - Part I" that will be released on May 4, 2018, and its Part II on May 3, 2019. He will also appear in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" that is scheduled for release on July 7, 2017.
