Samsung Galaxy S7 specs, features rumors: iris scanning technology?

Samsung is still relishing the gracious reception its primo pair of flagships, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, received from consumers. The South Korea-based company is making the most out of the craze by creating multiple iterations and designs out of the handsets.

Versions like Iron Man, Rugged, and Active are all here, and the Plus and Mini versions of the smartphones may be in the offing as well. Despite all that, followers of the tech firm are already setting their eyes on the Samsung Galaxy S7, which is now the subject of many rumors.

The hottest one claims that the upcoming flagship will be sporting an iris scanner, which will serve as its primary mode of security that users will use to gain access to the handset. Iris scanning technology is gradually becoming the next biometric breakthrough and is only used in select devices in Asia.

It wouldn't be a surprise if the Samsung Galaxy S7 incorporates the power of the iris scanner. Its predecessor made use of the fingerprint scanning technology at the height of its predominance and the tech firm does not look like it plans on being left out or being outstripped by competition.

Tech Times says that Samsung has been trying to perfect the feature back when the Galaxy S5 was still in its test beds. Apart from an iris scanner, the device is touted to sport an Ultra HD 4K display or at least a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, which is much better than what many of its competitions have.

The device, which is likely to be introduced during next year's Mobile World Congress in February, is also expected to offer 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB storage options and will house a whopping 4 or 6 GB RAM and the latest Mediatek chipset. It will apparently be able to run Android M as well.

On the design front, Master Herald says Samsung will probably keep on using the classy metal armor for the Samsung Galaxy S7 but will trade the physical Home button for an onscreen one. The battery unit will be at 3500 mAh, which will surely be much more powerful than the S6's 2550 mAh.
