Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone to have single curved and dual curved variants

Will the soon-to-be released Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge looks exactly like the Galaxy Note Edge?Samsung Galaxy website

There have been whispers saying that Samsung will release a device called Galaxy S6 Edge, a smartphone with a curved screen just like the Galaxy Note Edge.  However, recent rumors now claim that the company will release not one but two different Galaxy S6 Edge variants – one with single curved display and another with dual curved screens.

The latest rumor was sparked by an alleged Samsung employee through Reddit. Reddit user SamsungRep2015, who was confirmed by the Reddit moderator as a Samsung employee, claimed that the South Korean tech company is working on a smartphone with a curved screen panel.

The curved screen concept was first seen in the Galaxy Note Edge, which provides users with an extended screen on the right side of the device. This portion serves as a dock for notifications, apps and some features for quick access. Thanks to this added feature, the Galaxy Note Edge was reported to be more popular than the Galaxy Note 4.

The Samsung employee confirmed that the company has gone back to the drawing board for the Galaxy S6 and created a smartphone dubbed as "Project Zero." The Reddit user said that the "Project Zero is indeed a real thing."

The tipster also spilled that the company is giving attention to the physical attributes of the smartphone rather than what is under the hood. However, other reports claim that the Samsung will pay more attention to details and specs because of the failure it experienced with the Galaxy S5.

If rumors prove to be true, then Samsung Galaxy S6 will feature the same 5-inch screen display with quad HD pixel resolution. The smartphone will also have either the Qualcomm 20nm Snapdraon 810 chipset or an octa-core Exynos 7 SoC with 64-bit architecture along with 4 GB of RAM. The handset will run with the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, and will be available in the usual 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants with microSD slot for up to 128 GB external storage. The Galaxy S6 will also boast a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 3.1-megapixel front-facing camera, plus a longer battery life.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 release date will most likely follow the previous launch window of the Galaxy S series. The device is purported to be released ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2015 happening from March 2 to 5. However, all these remain as mere speculations until Samsung announces official details.
