Samsung has been successful in introducing its own fitness tracker, the Gear Fit, and it would not be surprising to see a next-gen device coming up soon. The South Korean tech firm has yet to confirm if the Samsung Gear Fit 3 will arrive in the coming months, and if it does launch this year, Samsung could improve the device in a lot of ways. For one, the Gear Fit 3 is expected to feature a more stable barometer, plus a pre-installed Spotify application.

Tech Radar has given a positive review for the Samsung Galaxy Fit 2 Pro, which was released last year. However, the online tech publication noted that the gadget still has a room for improvement, especially when it comes to altitude reading. The current Gear Fit wearable has a special barometer component that determines the user's altitude, although the barometer starts to have issues when exposed to water. This scenario cannot be avoided due to sweating, and therefore the Gear Fit 3 should improve on this department.

The Samsung Gear Fit 3 could also retain or even enhance its water pressure proofing, given that its predecessor already has an impressive MIL-STD 810G certification, allowing it to withstand up to 5 atm pressure underwater. Not only is the Gear Fit a good fitness wearable when it comes to water sports, but it can also be used in deep sea activities in which the pressure steadily rises upon descending.

Another interesting feature that can be added to the Samsung Gear Fit 3 is a pre-installed Spotify app, making it the perfect pal for fitness enthusiasts who are also after a nice music treat. The Gear Fit 2 Pro already supports Spotify, as well as its offline mode, although the users would appreciate it more if the tracker is ready to stream music upon unboxing.

Of course, the public can expect a major redesign of the Gear Fit, especially that the Gear Fit 2 Pro has only adapted the appearance of the previous models. Perhaps Samsung could also add more color options for the Gear Fit 3 straps. The company still has a long way to go for the possible launching of a next-gen Gear Fit tracker, which could happen as early as 2018.
