Japanese video game company Capcom seems to be keeping up with its new strategy of bringing back their bestselling games in high-definition format, as it recently revealed that "Resident Evil Zero" will be digitally remastered in HD.

"Resident Evil Zero" was initially released for the Nintendo Gamecube back in 2002 to serve as a prequel to the hit "Resident Evil" game that was also launched in the same year. The game focuses on the adventures of police officer Rebecca Chambers as she solves the case of a series of murders while working with former criminal Billy Coen to survive the highly contagious zombie outbreak. Players are allowed to switch between Billy and Rebecca all throughout the game in order to solve puzzles and use each character's exceptional abilities.

Once the remastered version of "Resident Evil Zero" is released, players can enjoy the game's thrilling horror survival gameplay using the latest consoles, including PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as last-gen consoles like PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, as well as PC.

In January 2015, the game developer released a new HD version of the original "Resident Evil" game titled "Resident Evil HD." The new high-def version can be purchased for only $19.99.

While Capcom confirmed the release of the remastered "Resident Evil Zero," the studio has yet to reveal all the important details of the game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 in Los Angeles next month.

Both "Resident Evil" and "Resident Evil Zero" are part of the long-running "Resident Evil" video game franchise, which began in 1996. The horror survival game has been recognized as the 22nd most successful video game franchises, according to Complex, with as much as 61 million units sold all over the world.

The latest installment in the series, "Resident Evil 2: Revelations 2," was released in March this year.
