'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' movie plot surfaces online

Milla Jovovich in Resident Evil: Retribution Screen Gems

Mila Jovovich will eventually return as the weapon-toting, zombie-slaying main protagonist Alice in the epilogue of the "Resident Evil" franchise. Titled "The Final Chapter," the film will also see the comeback of Ali Larter as Claire Redfield, Wentworth Miller as Claire's brother Chris and Iain Glenn as Dr. Isaacs. The cast will also include Eoin Macken, William Levy, Fraser James; Ruby Rose, Shawn Roberts, and Japanese model and celebrity Rola.

"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" closely follows the events after "Resident Evil: Retribution" and will see Alice trying to finish the Red Queen and end the ongoing apocalypse once and for all. According to Collider, after being betrayed by Wesker in Washington, D.C., Alice must travel back to where the series all began – Raccoon City. However, it will not be that simple, given that aside from the horde along the way, Raccoon City is now home to the nefarious Umbrella Corporation, which is gathering its forces for a final strike against the few human survivors.

The synopsis reads, "In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella's impending attack, this will be Alice's most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion."

The new film, said to be the last in the "Resident Evil" chain of films, is being helmed and penned by Jovovich's husband, Paul W.S. Anderson. The film is currently filming in South Africa. According to Cinema Blend, although there is still no release window for the film, fans may expect a September 2016 outing.
