'Resident Evil Revelations 2' news: Modder creates local co-op mod for title

Capcom took a nice, long dip in hot water after releasing "Resident Evil Revelations 2" minus the long-awaited local offline co-op. The game studio advertised that the game will include the feature and players feel like they were tricked for not getting it.

Capcom apologized about what came off as a broken promise saying that "the feature wasn't intended for [the] version and that caveat was mistakenly omitted from the product description on the Steam page earlier, and then included as soon as [they] were made aware."

As it turns out, the localized co-op is just an "unintentional error." After getting in touch with Capcom, IGN revealed that, according to the game studio's spokesperson, the local offline co-op had to be scrapped for quality concerns. Indeed, single play is really what "Resident Evil Revelations 2" is all about.

Despite this, it remains to be seen whether Capcom will ever work on integrating the feature in the future although it wrote along with its apology that it is "currently looking into the matter and potential solutions." With expectations shattered, the uproar growing more intense and uncertainty on Capcom's next move, some gamers feel like they have to take the initiative.

Renowned "Resident Evil" modder FluffyQuack took it upon himself to bring the promised localized co-op Capcom does not plan to set up. However, the creator cautioned that there are still a few issues in the mod, which only supports the game's story mode, and that it is still under development.

But thanks to the ardent gamer and modder, gamers can play "Resident Evil Revelations 2" in co-op, provided they have two gamepads as there is still no WASD and mouse support. FluffyQuack also provided a detailed guide and a set of instructions on how to put his creation to effective use.

Raid mode in "Resident Evil Revelations 2" will be propped up with online co-op play immediately the moment a free patch becomes live and ready for download.
