Fans of the Netflix crime original series "Narcos" are still waiting for updates about the show's fourth season. The production for season 4 ran into trouble due to the killing of "Narcos'" locations scout, Carlos Muñoz Portal, in September.

Season 3 ended with the downfall of the Cali Cartel and the introduction of Mexico as the new battleground for the war on drugs. Portal was tasked to scout a location for season 4's production. This led to his death after being gunned down and his remains were found along the Hidalgo state.

Speaking to TMZ, Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal said that the safety of the cast and crew comes first. He also did not reveal any information about the release date of season 4. Pascal said, "Well, we can't do it if it's not safe. We're talking about lives." He then concluded his statement with, "If they want to do it, they'll figure it out, in a safe way."

The season 3 of the show was a big success for Netflix. It received a 96% score rating from Rotten Tomatoes and 78% from Metacritic. The first and second season were also well-received by viewers and critics. According to critics, the series had been consistent in executing the story for each season. The Hollywood Reporter commended the performance of actor Wagner Moura who portrayed the infamous Pablo Escobar.

With season 4 set in Mexico, fans are speculating on which cartel is to be featured. Many online message boards and feature articles are mentioning the Juarez Cartel based in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. There are still several news referencing the involvement of the Juarez Cartel up to now. However, the show is known for focusing on the origins of a cartel and the campaign against its founders. The creators of the show had all been silent about season 4. There are also no hints if the series will introduce a new main protagonist.
