Modern Family season 8 will premier on Sept. 21. ABC

ABC's hit comedy series "Modern Family" will start its season 8 celebrating Father's Day. The Pritchett, Dunphy, and Tucker families will be together for the first time after spending their own vacations in New York, Mexico and the Midwest.

After the vacation hangover and the immediate celebration, it is now time to return to their normal lives. Starting with the Pritchetts, Gloria's (Sofia Vergara) hot sauce business starts to sizzle, Phil (Ty Burrell) is more than happy to be back with his unpopular diversions, while Claire (Julie Bowen) will be struggling with Jay's (Ed O'Neill)back-to-work dilemma, E! News reported exclusively.

Over on the Dunphy side, the upcoming season will bring Luke (Nolan Gould) and Manny (Rico Rodriguez) to a more exciting high school life as they enter senior year together. Alex (Ariel Winter) will have to clear herself from Mononucleosis while having student duties at Caltech Her sister Haley (Sarah Hyland) will try to be an entrepreneur for the first time.

Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) will have a difficult time adjusting to the tween life, while interested tenants will keep Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) busy with their second level rental unit.

"Modern Family" season 8 will also have Martin Short and Nathan Fillion as their guest for the series' Halloween and New Year's Eve episodes. Short will have one episode, and will work with Phil. "Martin is playing a guy who does promotional items and works with Phil to do all of his calendars, and pencils, and water bottles, and mugs, and all that. He's sort of the local king of promotional merchandise," said executive producer Steven Levitan to Movie Phone.

Levitan added, Fillion will be "playing a local TV weatherman who gets involved with the Dunphy family."

He also said on the interview that "Mitch and Cam are taking in one of Cam's [football] players for a while, who has to stay with them for a while. So we're throwing another person into their little world."

ABC's hit comedy series "Modern Family" season 8 will premiere on Sept. 21 at 9 p.m.
