MacBook Air 2016 release date rumors: New laptop to arrive before year ends?

MacBook Air 2014 in two sizes Apple

Apple's recent event last September introduced iPhone 6, 6 Plus, and the refreshed iPad Pro, but there was no mention about MacBook Air 2016.

Now, fans are wondering when the next MacBook Air will arrive, but according to a report from NeuroGadget, Apple has dropped its prices on older models of its gadgets, which only suggests that the new MacBook Air 2016 could arrive before the year ends.

However, there are also reports that MacBook Air's release date will be pushed to 2016 because of a few reasons.

One is that Apple may be launching the new iPad Pro in November and with that, they need all their focus on the upcoming gadget, which is why the MacBook Air has been tossed to the side.

In addition, it was assumed that Apple doesn't want all the attention to go to MacBook Air (if it gets released this year) since it will only hurt the sales for iPad Pro.

Other reports also suggest that the delay could be due to the unavailability of the processors that have not been produced yet.

Meanwhile, all fans have are speculations about the upcoming device. When it comes to specs, rumors claim that the MacBook Air 2016 will be sold in two variants: one with 13-inch and the other with 15-inch Retina screen display that give off richer and more vibrant images.

The most interesting bit about the device's feature is its Force Touch technology. Air 2016 is also expected to carry a Skylake-U processor that could take its performance up several notches.

The device is expected to have a more powerful battery and will have a Type-C USB connector. MacBook Air 2016 is also expected to carry an OS X.

As for the pricing, there are no details available yet on this matter but word has it that the device could cost around $899, Master Herald noted. However, it remains to be seen if this expected price belongs to the 13-inch or the 15-inch variant.
