LG V10 review: LG flagship's most notable features

LG has just released its newest addition to the company's flagships, the V10. How does the new flagship smartphone differ from competitors' flagships and from LG's other flagship lineups?

One of the most novelty features that the LG V10 holds over other flagship smartphones is the company's inclusion of a dual display. However, it doesn't work much like the front-and-back display panels of the YotaPhone 2. Rather, the LG V10 has a second display on top of the 5.7-inch LC panel.

The extra screen serves a function much like the Edge display of Samsung. Instead of users scrolling through numerous apps and tabs to get to a feature, the second display can be configured to access shortcuts, most used apps and music player controls, among others.

Meanwhile, some observers lauded the new flagship's cameras. According to the Verge, in terms of mobile photography, the V10 captures stunning images and involves an upgraded version of the camera sensors on the G4. Indeed, the cameras on the V10 have the same manual controls such as ISO settings and white balance, but with added bonuses. The V10's controls stretch to manually set the shutter speed and frame rate. Plus, manual control options are also integrated into the video recording modes.

In addition, there are two lens systems integrated into the front shooter. Users who see the V10 for the first time may be boggled by the two cameras on the front. This is an ingenious design that LG integrated into the new flagship. The two cameras function both for selfies – there is a single crop feature for tight shots, while the two cameras simultaneously process images for a wider angle shot.

In terms of design, however, not much has changed. The LG V10 has much in common with another LG flagship, the G4. However, Gizmodo reports that instead of the plasticky feel of the G4, the V10 has a sturdier rubberized backplate that serves as a non-stick grip. In addition, there are also stainless steel grips on both sides. The gloss finish of the V10 plus the metal chassis give it a more premium look.
