The iPad Air 2's release is still uncertain at this point, but that will no longer be the case in a week's time. Apple will hold a special event on Oct. 16 and, according to Extreme Tech, the invites have already been sent out.

In the Oct. 16 event, updates for the iPad Air and iPad Mini will likely be unveiled. The event will be held in Apple's campus but in a smaller venue than that of the iPhone 6 launch. Moreover, the said event will also presumably give updates on other Apple products like the Apple TV and the iMac.

First things first though.  The Oct. 16 event is said to highlight the new tablets from Apple, namely the iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina display. There have been rumors going around about the new iPad Air with Retina display, and that might just be the iPad Air 2 or iPad Air Plus. Based on the rumors, the iPad Air 2 will have a 12.9-inch screen and it will be lighter, thinner, and bigger than the iPad Air.

For those who are wondering if there will be a 9.7-inch screen version of the iPad Air 2, that remains to be heard on Oct. 16. At the same time, it is also unsure what the iPad Mini with Retina Display will be like.

For the other products, Extreme Tech predicts that one of the products to be unveiled will be the iMac with a 27-inch screen and Retina display, too. Other products to be updated could be the Mac Mini, Apple TV, and iPod Nano.

It is important to note that the event invitation did tease "it's been way too long," which could mean that the event will be about updates that are long overdue. Meanwhile, everyone can wait for Oct. 16 and wait for what Apple has to show the world once again.
