'Elder Scrolls 6' rumors: Game may not release any time soon

It's looking more and more like 2015 will pass without any "Elder Scrolls 6" release date being announced, and that bit of information may not even be made available next year.

Much of what's been written about "The Elder Scrolls 6" in recent months has focused on rumors concerning the game's release date, its setting, and even some of its features. Despite the many rumors, however, Bethesda has steered clear of saying anything official about the game, and that may simply be because the company has nothing to reveal.

In a recent interview with Wired, "Fallout 4" director and "Skyrim" developer Todd Howard was asked about whether or not he would ever work on small projects. Howard indicated that he prefers to work on larger projects, similar to "Fallout" and "Elder Scrolls" titles, but he also revealed that at least at the time of that interview that he would prefer to take a bit of a break before beginning work on his latest endeavor.

Howard's comments don't directly point to "The Elder Scrolls 6," but considering the role he is expected to have as it relates to the project, what he said does not bode well for the game coming sooner rather than later.

With downloadable content (DLC) still set to be released for "Fallout 4," it may be a while before "The Elder Scrolls 6" becomes the main focus for Howard and Bethesda.

According to Gaming Bolt, there's a chance that "The Elder Scrolls 6" may not be released until 2018. The website points to the significant gap between "Fallout 3" and "Fallout 4" as one of the reasons behind the 2018 prediction, and judging by how little about the rumored game is known, it may not be an outlandish suggestion.

Fans will continue to hope for something sooner, however, and until then, they will wait for any new developments regarding "The Elder Scrolls 6."
