Bible verses to help fight when Satan and the forces of evil are attacking me

The devil is a jealous being. He doesn't want you to grow closer to God so he will do what it takes to tempt you into doing the wrong things. Sometimes, he wins, but the keyword here is sometimes. The sad thing is that the devil is relentless. He will not stop until he breaks your faith and leads you far away from God. His antics will truly test you. So if you feel like the devil is attacking you, here are the Bible verses to keep in mind to help you fight back.

1 Peter 5:8-9

Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.

The first important thing you must always do is to be alert. Be aware that the devil is always prowling around you and waiting for his chance to take advantage of your weaknesses. You must not be complacent because evil is persistent. By being alert and aware, you can protect yourself better from anything that the devil will attack you with. Once you're aware, stay faithful and use your faith to resist whatever the devil is doing. Find comfort in knowing that there are others like you, being tested, being tempted. Win this fight for the Lord.

Psalm 44:5

Through You, we will push back our adversaries, through Your name we will trample down those who rise up against us.

This verse acknowledges that there is only one way to beat the devil, and that is through God. Use this verse to remind you that God is the ultimate source of strength to win this war. Be confident enough to seek the Lord's help. And when you do, be confident in pushing back the devil and beating him.

2 Chronicles 20:15

This is what the Lord says to you: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's.

It is understandable that Christians may feel intimated with evil. That's because we doubt or second guess ourselves when faced with tests and challenges. However, this self-doubt is exactly why the devil attacks us. It is important that you will not fear evil because you know that God is fighting with you. Know that the war is between God and Satan, you're caught in between. Whatever Satan does, it is to hurt God. If the devil is successful in destroying your faith, this will hurt God tremendously. So be courageous because God always wins the battles.

James 4:7

Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Another important verse to remember is this one. It is vital that you fully submit and surrender to the Lord. He cannot help you if you go into this half-hearted, and God will know either way. Put your full trust in Him and He will not let you down and forsake you. As long as you believe that the Lord will fight the fight for you, it will be easier to resist the devil.

It's not easy to always be on your toes and create a shield around you for protection. But as children of God, we are part of this war and we shall do our part. Let the Word of God be your weapon and let God be the unrelenting will inside you to keep fighting!
