Churches in Zimbabwe are being silenced by threats and intimidation by the country's security forces, according to the Council for World Mission. A WCC-sponsored team sent to the area called for the Zimbabwe Council of Churches, Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Conference to speak with one voice on the nation's issues. It also called on these organisations to organise protection for pastors and church workers willing to speak out: "The church must address and heal its own divisions if it is to serve as an instrument of healing in wider society."
