Windows 10 Mobile rumors 2016: Previous Windows Lumia models to receive OS version this week

Several previous models of Microsoft Lumia are said to be receiving the Windows 10 Mobile operating system soon. These models include Lumia 535, 635, 735, 830, 930 and 1520, which were sold with Windows 8 and 8.1 installed. The updated is expected to arrive between March 7 and March 13.

The announcement came through Vodafone Italy and, according to Windows Central, the Italian carrier's support page laid out the details of the OTA (over-the-air) update that will happen this coming week. Technically, this applies to Vodafone Italia customers only, but, if this proves to be true, worldwide users may receive the update as well.

Vodafone Australia has also made a similar announcement. The Australian phone carrier has finished testing the software upgrade for its Windows Phone 8.1 units and will be ready to roll out, as the International Business Times reported.

Previously, Microsoft informed its Lumia community that the Windows 10 Mobile operating system will be arriving on all compatible devices. However, the update has not arrived yet. Microsoft is currently concentrating on patching phones that were released with Windows 10 Mobile installed. This action has prompted some negative reaction from its consumers since many are expecting the Windows 10 Mobile operating system on their phones, which, apparently, has been taking a long time to happen.

Only the Lumia 535 was manufactured by Microsoft; the Lumia 635, 735, 830, 930 and 1520 were all part of the last batch manufactured by Nokia. Currently, there only a few models that came out with Windows 10 Mobile -- the Lumia 950, 950 XL, 550 and, just recently, the Lumia 650.

Phone Arena added that the likely reason behind the delay in the latest operating system's implementation to the older Lumia phones is Microsoft's apparent desire to concentrate more on its Surface Pro tablet and the rumored Surface Pro phone.

There were similar reports in the past that carriers claimed to be releasing Windows 10 Mobile to their Windows Phone 8.1 subscribers, but this never really materialized.

No official announcement has been made by Microsoft about this matter.
