As Whalley Methodist Church marks their 200th anniversary, preparations are under way for a special celebration week.

The celebration will be held at the end of the month to commemorate the milestone with a grand exhibition demonstrating what the historic building was like then and how it is now with the use of flowers, arts, crafts and photographs.

Over the August Bank Holiday weekend, this celebration will reach its climax with the publication of a new "History of the Church" booklet, revealing people's comments and observations in a living history style.

Looking forward to the historic occasion is the minister of the church, the Rev. Chris Cheeseman. He said: "This celebration is not just about looking at the past, it's also about looking forward to the next 200 years of the church.
