Vivienne Faull becomes new Dean of York Minster

The Very Rev Vivienne Faull has been appointed as the new Dean of York Minster.

Rev Faull was chaplain to Gloucester Cathedral from 1990 to 1994, and Canon Residentiary at Coventry Cathedral until 2000.

In 2000, she became Provost of Leicester Cathedral and served as its Dean from 2002 to the present.

She replaces the Very Rev Keith Brynmore Jones, following his resignation in April.

Her appointment as Dean of York Minster was welcomed by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu.

“The Dean designate brings a wealth of experience of cathedral life," he said.

“This rich experience and her deep trust in God and love for all people, will help the Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of St Peter in York (York Minster) as it seeks to serve the mission of God in the Diocese and Province of York.

“York Minster exists for the glory of God and as a sign of God’s Kingdom in the world.

"We welcome The Very Reverend Vivienne Faull and her family most warmly to the Diocese and Provincial family of York.”
