The Tim Tebow Foundation's "Night to Shine" prom for people with special needs and disabilities is back, and this time, the organisers are planning to host 100 churches worldwide, more than doubling the number of churches they sponsored last year, which was around 44 in 26 states and three countries.
The "Night to Shine" prom is designed to treat people who have special needs 16 years and older to a fun-filled night where they all feel like "kings and queens" under the eyes of God.
The Tim Tebow Foundation has pledged to give each church up to $8,500 to turn this dream night into reality. The foundation hopes to fulfill its mission on Feb. 12, 2016, according to its website. The foundation will also be providing a detailed prom manual and prom kit full of special decorations and gifts for guests.
Each prom event will include a red-carpet entrance complete with a friendly welcome from paparazzi, limousine rides, hair and makeup stations, shoe shining areas and a lively dance floor. The honoured guests even get to take home either a crown or a tiara.
"We want to show each and every guest that they are special and they are loved," said football player Tim Tebow. "This is a night to celebrate who they are as a child of God, and to remind them that in God's eyes, we are all kings and queens."
"Night to Shine 2016" is expected to be even better than its predecessor, and the organisers expect more churches and volunteers to get involved.
"We have always said that we wanted Night to Shine to be a night for the churches to shine, the volunteers to shine, and most importantly, for Christ to shine," said Erik Dellenback, executive director of the Tim Tebow Foundation. "We cannot wait to see what God has in store for next year's event."
