After Microsoft released the list of free games that Xbox Live Games with Gold subscribers can avail of next month, PlayStation users are now waiting for word from Sony Computer Entertainment regarding its own list of free games for January 2016.

Next month, Xbox One players will receive the AAA game "Killer Instinct: Season 1 Ultra Edition" and "Deus Ex: Human Revolution." Could this mean that Sony will also give away an AAA game to compete with Microsoft's offerings?

However, Sony Computer Entertainment remains mum about its January 2016 free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. But the company is expected to reveal the titles before the end of the current month.

At the moment, speculations about the list of free game titles are beginning to emerge online. They include titles that PlayStation Plus subscribers would want to receive in the beginning of the year.

According to News4C, fans would like to see "Batman: Arkham Origins" and "Dark Souls 2" as the free games for PlayStation 3 users in January 2016.

The "Batman: Arkham Origins" action-adventure game first came out in 2013. It received high praises from gamers and critics alike for modifying all the best loved features of the previous "Arkham" games. Meanwhile, Bandai Namco's "Dark Souls 2" was praised for adding difficulty levels compared to its predecessor.

PlayStation 3 and PS Vita players would also like to see "Borderlands" or "Borderlands 2" as their free game next month.

MNR Daily, meanwhile, reported that "Gauntlet: Slayer Edition" and "King's Quest" will be welcome additions to the list of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers at the start of the year.

Other rumored titles coming for the PlayStation Plus subscribers include "Ragnarok Odyssey Ace," "Grim Fandango Remastered," "Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus," "Nitro+ Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel," as well as "Hitman Absolution."
