Nominations for the Communication for Peace Award are currently being gathered by the World Association for Christian Communication.

The awards will be presented at the WACC's 2008 congress in Cape Town, South Africa.

The WACC promotes communication for social change and believes that communication is a basic human right that defines people's common humanity and strengthens cultures.

The association is looking to award a person who has "consistently, dynamically and creatively demonstrated the value of communication for peace in a particular context".

Consistent with WACC's Christian Principles of Communication, the award winner will be a person of faith and recognised as a public voice of conscience.

In addition, he or she will be an individual who, as a communications professional, has shown sustained dedication and commitment to communicating and promoting a culture of peace, social justice, reconciliation and the alleviation of conflict.

The award winner will also have contributed to a substantial effort towards winning or preserving peace and justice for groups of people whose circumstances make them vulnerable to prejudice, discrimination, or injustice.

Nominations must be accompanied by evidence of activities and achievements of the nominee and sent to WACC award@waccglobal.org before 1 September 2007.
