NBA trade rumors: Houston Rockets trying to trade Ty Lawson?

Ty Lawson was someone who was looked upon by the Houston Rockets to help the team in its 2015–16 National Basketball Association (NBA) campaign. Thus far, such has yet to bear fruit.

For NBA fans, it was apparent that the Rockets were trying to address their point guard shortage in the last NBA playoffs where the Rockets fell only in the Western Conference Finals. At that time, Patrick Beverly was out due to injury while Jason Terry hardly made an impact to fill in that gap.

In the offseason, Lawson was expected to fill that void, dealing for him which saw the Rockets trade four bench players in the process. Such was seen as a win-win situation for both, although his off-court issues were something to worry about.

And while Lawson swears to clean up his act, his performance has been dipping. He is a far cry from the player he was in Denver and now, the word is out that he could be traded soon.

Lawson carries a hefty $12.4 million contract for the season and another $13.21 million for next season. At that price, any team would want their money's worth.

But at the rate that the 28-year-old point guard is playing, he could be the first to be shipped despite claims by team management that there is no truth to the word going around.

Lawson is, of course, holding the Rockets to their word, although he needs to prove he deserves to be there. This is not to discredit the Rockets on their stand but the fact remains that Houston has the power to move players especially if they are underperforming.

Compared to the firing of Kevin McHale, Lawson's case is far different. He needs to show the form that made him one of the top guards in the NBA but until now, such hasn't happened.
