"It's been a childhood dream of mine to release an album, so to receive four Grammy nominations is truly a blessing," Hudson said in a statement released by her record label, Arista Records. "I'm extremely honored and humbled by the nominations."
The 27-year-old “American Idol” alum’s self-titled debut is a contender for R&B Album of the Year, while her single "Spotlight" is up for Best R&B Song. She is also vying for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and shares a nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals for her duet with Fantasia on "I'm His Only Woman".
In the last months, Hudson’s professional accomplishments were overshadowed by the deaths of her mother, brother, and nephew, who were found slain late October.
Since the tragedy, Hudson has been spending much of her time with her family and also set up a new foundation for families of murder victims.
Hudson's estranged brother-in-law, William Balfour, has been charged with murder in the deaths of Hudson's mother Darnell Donerson, 57, brother Jason Hudson, 29, and his stepson Julian King, 7. Her Grammy nods were announced on the same day Balfour was denied bail in Chicago.
