"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" has gone so far in the production that all of Kurt Russell's scenes are now wrapped up. Director James Gunn and lead star Chris Pratt can't help their emotions about the thought of not seeing the actor on set until the end of the filming.

Gunn posted a message on his Facebook page about Russell's brilliant work in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." He said he admired the actor for being nice to his family and that he "couldn't ask for more."

"I'll admit I'm welling up a bit. It's not often your heroes are as awesome in person as you believed they were as a kid. A wonderful guy and incredible actor in every way," he said.

He posted another message on his Twitter. "And that's a wrap on Kurt Russell on [Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.] A true talent and pleasure in every way. I will admit to a small tear in my eye," Gunn said.

Pratt then replied that the filmmaker is "not the only one" tearing up, describing "The Hateful Eight" actor as the "best."

Not much has been said about what character Russell will be portraying in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." It is rumored that the legendary actor will play the role of Star-Lord's father in the film. But whoever he ends up being in the sequel, it's clear that he made an impact on and off screen.

In other related news, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" production continues. Gunn teased on his Facebook page that there will be "many" big stunts in the film.

One of these stunts involves Zoe Saldana's Gamora, which she successfully performed during Friday the 13th.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" director also said that they had some "major props break" because Dave Bautista apparently lives up to his Drax the Destroyer role and "doesn't know his own strength."

Gunn also revealed in response to a fan's query that moviegoers should give up expecting Marvel villain Galactus to appear in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel.

Known as the Devourer of Worlds, the baddie can't appear in the film because the rights to the character are owned by Fox. Gunn then explained that any other character owned by Marvel can be part of the movie.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will be released on May 5, 2017.
