Floyd Mayweather next fight opponent for September still undecided: Miguel Cotto, Shawn Porter, Marcos Maidana?

Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s next fight is supposed to be on Sept. 13, 2014, but though it's just 11 weeks away, Mayweather hasn't picked his opponent yet. What gives?

According to Boxing News 24, there are two possible reasons why Mayweather still doesn't have an opponent. First, it may be because Richard Scaefer left Golden Boy Promotions and second, there's a lack of viable fighters available for the September 13 fight.

It is said that Mayweather and his team are not in good terms with Golden Boy Promotions. There are issues to be sorted out, but despite Mayweather wanting to take charge of his fights, he may have to follow contractual obligations. If he chooses to fight someone that happens to be under Golden Boy Promotions, well, he won't have any other choice but to work with them.

The next reason is the lack of availability of quality fighters for Mayweather. The fight with Manny Paquiao will definitely not happen this year. Amir Khan said that he won't be able to fight by September due to Ramadan, which leaves Miguel Cotto, Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia and Marcos Maidana in the list.

Boxing News 24 suggests that Mayweather should maybe move his fights two months ahead and fight Amir Khan. "We are talking about 2 months here and it is not like moving two months ahead would take the negotiating power away from Floyd Mayweather Jr. He would still get to dictate the terms of the fight as he is still the bigger name. At the end of the day, it would simply be a business decision and not an ego thing."

In related news, former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield believes that Mayweather lacks the skills to fight Pacquiao, according to IBT. Holyfield said "Everybody is saying, 'Why doesn't he fight Pacquiao? He'll kill Pacquiao. He doesn't believe it himself. Until he believes it, the fight won't happen."

Well, hopefully, Mayweather picks an opponent soon. Time is running out. Who do you think should fight him next?
