Fierce! roll out the high kicks and hyperglo with new punk signing

Posted: Wednesday, December 9, 2009, 11:23 (GMT)

Fierce! has announced its first fresh signing - the uber-talented, naturally red-bulled, impeccably-up-tempo four-piece [dweeb] - yes, brackets included.

Anyone who saw them take a leading role in the BBC 3 documentary ‘Singing With The Enemy’ will know them as a collective of undeniable unity and faith. Even when paired up for a week with a XXX-rated punk band and tasked with writing a song together – and the results filmed and broadcast to the nation – the Coventry-based [dweeb] remained true to themselves and their beliefs. [dweeb], so it seems, are not a band who buckle under pressure.

[dweeb] have grafted the old school way: constant touring has been their way of life since they began in 2003. Now an established favourite of anyone in the UK who knows what an actual dweeb is – as well as festivalgoers all over Europe – the band have amassed a loyal following. And as their sound has grown from its early punk-feist into something that blends the raw with the melodic, [dweeb] are now ready to throw themselves out there and see what the wider public makes of it all.

[dweeb] are singer/guitarist Tim Alford, bassist Matt Donald, drummer Dave Ashworth and the guitarist known only as The Badgerman to the family.

Next April will see the release of the debut album by the band for Fierce! followed by a massive European tour that will run from May through to the end of the summer. Those dates - like the previous tours – are expected be played before audiences running well into the thousands. And the album…? Well, amid all that neon hyperglo and industrial sonic optimism, all Fierce! will tell us is that there's going to be something truly great out via Kingsway from 19 April 2010.
