Christian football star Tim Tebow is encouraging fellow Christians to take a stand for their faith.

Speaking during an event held recently at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, told the audience, "What's amazing when you get up and do something is what God does in your life. We just have to get up and do something."

During this day and age, there are a lot of people who are confused about their true identities and purpose in life, but if Christians stick with God, Tebow said their path ahead will be very clear, the Daily News Journal wrote.

"When your identity is found in Christ, your identity never changes. You are always a child of God. That's why I always say I don't have to live the roller coaster that the rest of the world lives," he added.

A lot of athletes might think they're superior to other people because of their athletic prowess, but Tebow does not think he is any more special than the next guy. He credits God for his talent in football, and he hopes to give Him all the honour and glory his career brings.

Tebow's speech inspired fellow speaker Dinesh D'Souza, an iconic conservative filmmaker, and he lauded Tebow for being brave and honest about his Christian faith.

"Tim Tebow has become a certain kind of iconic figure — he seems to represent a certain kind of muscular Christianity, almost the kind that the movie 'Chariots of Fire' exhibited 20 or 30 years ago," D'Souza told Breitbart News. "I feel there's a certain boldness about the way he speaks his faith and what he represents. He represents a certain idea of America —kind of American exceptionalism if you will. It's kind of hard to think of Tim Tebow in Brazil or in India."
