With the dream of seeing Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao going nowhere, it may only be a matter of time before both fighters announce their respective opponents this year. It is likely that both fighters will be holding their first bout for 2015 in May, the same month that Mayweather allegedly wanted to get it on with the prized Filipino fighter from Saranggani province.

However nothing has really materialized and up to now, everything is on the negotiations stage. In fact, it could stay there and not gain any headway if you consider the history between the two camps.

So if that Mayweather-Pacquiao doesn't happen, what will? Well the two fighters have a fighter have a common pursuer , a guy named Amir Khan.

Khan has been aggressively trying to set up a match with either Mayweather or Pacquiao, his former sparring partner.

A Khan vs. Mayweather tiff would have materialized in 2014 but the flamboyant one chose to go with Marcos Maidana, twice. Mayweather didn't find Khan a worthy adversary especially on a pay-perview level. Regardless, Khan hasn't given up and if Mayweather doesn't fight Pacquiao, Khan could get his shot.

If not Mayweather, Khan could face his former sparring buddy Manny Pacquiao. After some impressive wins over Luis Collazo (May 3, 2014) and Devon Alexander (December 13, 2014), Khan seems poised to get the chance to fight Pacquiao.

Khan used to be handled by Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach but later on left. He is now handled by Virgil Hunter. And just in case no opponent has been selected yet, Khan could be an option for Pacquiao's next opponent.

"I have proven myself at top level and want the big fights. I would love to fight at Wembley stadium. I believe Manny Pacquiao would come to England and fight me here – that would be good," Khan said via Bolton News.
