Developer Gearbox Software is now working on "Borderlands 3," but it is not coming anytime soon. That being said, a no-show of the game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 was expected.

Now that the company has released its new game, "Battleborn," as well as its first downloadable content (DLC), Gearbox is ready to turn its full attention to "Borderlands 3."

Back in April, "Borderlands 3" was confirmed by the company. The development was so early on that an official name of the game hasn't been settled yet.

However, there are so many expectations about the game. IGN believes that "Borderlands 3" will evolve in terms of open world gameplay seeing that its predecessor "Borderlands 2" did the same.

The site believes that the previous "Borderlands" game was one of the best follow-ups released and it's all thanks to Gearbox's seamless work in merging role-playing elements with the shooter.

Released in 2012, "Borderlands 2" is actually hailed the bestselling game of publisher 2K Games so there's so much expectation on "Borderlands 3."

As for what to expect in "Borderlands 3," the game is expected to feature a "true" open world since it is being made solely on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

"Borderlands 2" had these travel gates, which not only required longer load times, but divided the environment. This was, however, due to the technology available to Gearbox few years back.

Now that "Borderlands 3" is only coming to the new-generation console, VG 247 believes that Gearbox will be able to make an open world without dividing it, giving fans the feeling of being in a real place.

For "Borderlands" 3, Gearbox is ready to take risks and chances. CEO Randy Pitchford has already stated last year that they are prepared to do things they "haven't done before."

That being said, "Borderlands 3" is definitely going to be the biggest game in the franchise. But while gamers await the arrival of the threequel, it isn't too late to get into the series with.

"Tales from the Borderlands" is currently on flash sale on the PlayStation Store. The promo will only last up to tomorrow so those interested to get into one of Gearbox's most popular games.
