Xbox One backwards compatibility: List of games growing with more titles bound to be added

One of the features Microsoft recently unlocked for the Xbox One console is the backwards compatibility program. With the new feature going live, players for the current-gen console can now play classic titles previously available only for the Xbox 360.

Although the list of games for the backwards compatibility feature already contained a big number of titles when the program launched late last year, Microsoft continues to add more titles.

The latest titles bound for the Xbox One backwards compatibility list for this month are a mix of both classic and triple-A games. According to an announcement, now available for download are "Age of Booty," "Aegis Wing," and "Counter-Strike: GO."

The list will also expand with "Jeremy McGrath's Offroad," Sam & Max Save the World," "Skullgirls," "Small Arms," "Space Giraffe," and "Soul Calibur."

Meanwhile, as a surprise treat for fans, Microsoft also added another triple-A title to the list. Now available for the backwards compatibility feature is "The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings." As an added bonus, the title can be downloaded for free for all players (except in Japan) until Feb. 5.

Microsoft also announced that there will be some changes to the feature itself. Previously, additional titles for the backwards compatibility program were released monthly. Now, under the new terms, Microsoft said that titles will be added to the game list as soon as they become available. The availability of some games is also subject to change, and title might be unavailable in some regions.

For fans who are looking for other triple-A titles to be added to the list, Inquisitr mentioned that they will not be waiting for long. Apparently, some games like "Call of Duty: Black Ops," the "BioShock" series, as well as "Halo Wars" are being readied for backwards compatibility. In addition, it is also rumored that "Tekken Tag Tournament 2" might also be added, as the game reportedly showed on some Xbox One owners' "Ready to Install" list.
