Xbox Australia is taking its promotions one big step further this weekend as it plans to drop real "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" (PUBG) crates down under.
In support of the launch of PUBG on Xbox One next week, Microsoft is doing three "supply drops" -- one each in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
According to reports, each of the crates will contain 25 items. These will include highly coveted stuff like Xbox One X consoles, Elite controllers, and Xbox Live codes. It will also be stuffed with codes for "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" as well as other PUBG merchandise.
The crates' actual locations, as well as the password to unlock them, will be revealed via the Xbox ANZ Facebook page. Interested players will have to really tune in to be ready to run once the necessary details are announced. The crates will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 9, Saturday. They will be highly guarded by Xbox staffers, and only those who come with the correct password will be given access.
According to the terms and conditions posted on their Facebook, the promo is open to all Australian residents who are 18 years old and above. An ID is required to participate. Those who are below 18 can still join, but only with the presence of a parent or guardian.
Apart from the password, there will be a test before the participant could get a prize. The Xbox staff will ask one of five questions related to PUBG. If the participant gets a correct answer, he or she will get to choose one prize. Those who get the wrong answer will be granted re-entry and another chance to try, but only after 15 minutes.
"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" will be launched for Xbox One on Dec. 12 at $30, just like the early access PC version. The full PC version will be released later this month.
