'We Happy Few' pushed back for a summer release

"We Happy Few" delayed again as developers want more time to polish the title. Compulsion Games

The 1960s dystopian survival game "We Happy Few" is finally complete but, after thorough review, Compulsion Games has decided to push the game's release back to this summer.

The development team have released a statement on the matter on their official site, stating that they are happy with the content that is already in the game but bringing the game to a level of polish that they are satisfied with will still take them a few more months of work.

In addition to that, they talk about how they have received complaints from players that the current asking price for Early Access is too high given how much content is actually available in this build. While they justify their price by saying that the full game will offer a lot more than what is currently available, they do state that they understand and empathize with those that feel cheated by the cost.

As such, the developers will now grant refunds to anyone who has purchased the Early Access version of the game regardless of playtime to quell the frustrations of anyone who is unsatisfied with the current asking price versus the amount of content in the build. They also announced that they will temporarily make the game unavailable for purchase on Steam so that future buyers will not face the same frustration.

Finally, the team has released a short video featuring creative director Guillaume Provost and chief operating officer Sam Abbott. In the video, they go into further detail regarding their decision to delay the game again which includes completely rebuilding the first few hours of the game to make it a more satisfying experience. The end of the video also showcases some new footage of the game's second playable character — Sally.
