The Washington Redskins and the Cleveland Browns clash on Sunday in a big Week 4 game in the NFL. The Redskins need to build upon their excellent result last week, but they face a Browns team also desperate for a win. The Redskins secured their first win of the season last week on the road to the New York Giants.
The character that they showed not to fold, but to come back after a first quarter where they fell behind gives hope for the season. Going into the game against the 2-0 Giants, the Redskins at 0-2 must have thought here we go again when they ended the first quarter 6-14 down. However, they comeback magnificently, eating away at that Giants lead through the next three quarters to steal the win at the end.
Going into the fourth they were just a single point behind at 23-24, but they kept the pressure on and they managed to inflict a first loss of the season on division rivals the Giants in a 29-27 game.
Meanwhile the Cleveland Browns dropped to 0-3 last week against the Miami Dolphins, losing the game 30-24 in overtime. That will have been difficult to take, and they must be wondering what they need to do to get a win on the board this season. However, this week it is very much a case of whether the 0-3 Browns can go again or whether their heads have already gone down following another tough loss.
Earlier this week on NFL Monday Night Football, the Bengals fought their way back to 2-2 with a solid victory over the Miami Dolphins. After a tight first quarter that ended 10-7 to the Bengals, Cincinnati never looked back.
Through the next three quarters the Bengals successfully and brutally shutdown the Dolphins offense, which allowed their own offense to pick off points to slowly extend their lead and gain a comfortable win.
A.J. Green got 10 catches for 173 yards and a touchdown int he game to lead the Bengals back to 2-2 after two straight losses.
Speaking about getting back to his best after a lackluster display against the Denver Broncos in Week 3, Green said, "I hold myself to a very high standard. I know what I'm capable of. Last week I didn't perform to that level. I had to refocus on a short week."
Meanwhile, the Dolphins were unable to gain any traction in offense, and after three quarters the Miami offense had just 152 total yards, compared to Green's 166 to his name alone.
Miami's Ryan Tannehill did pull off a 74 yard touchdown pass to Kenny Stills on their second play, but apart from that there was little to cheer for the Dolphins offense.
Tennehill finished with 15 of 25 for 189 yards for one touchdown, one interception, a fumble and five sacks.
He said, "Not a lot worked. We really didn't do anything well. It was one of our worst performances from our offense in a long time."
