The first glimpse of actors Colin Farrell as police officer Ray Velcoro and Taylor Kitsch as California Highway patrol officer Paul Woodrugh in the upcoming second season of "True Detective" has been released by HBO in its official Twitter account.
One of the first photos of Farrell in the set of "True Detective" season 2 shows that the actor is now sporting a bushy mustache. His character is also seen with his gun drawn while seemingly embroiled in an action-packed situation with Kitsch's character.
TV.com reported that "True Detective" season 2 centers on the lives of three California police officers and a notorious career criminal after they get involved in a complicated web of lies involving a murder. Farrell's Velcoro is a conflicted cop whose loyalty is torn between his crooked police department and mob leader Frank Semyon, played by Vince Vaughn.
On the other hand, Kitsch's character is a war veteran who is now working for the California Highway Patrol. He is currently running away from his highly complicated past, as well as "the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened."
Rachel McAdams is the only female lead character in the second season of the crime drama series. She portrays the role of Ana Bezzerides.
Nic Pizzolatto penned all the episodes for "True Detective" season 2, but Emmy-award winning director Joji Fukunaga will not be on board to helm the upcoming installment of the crime drama anthology created by HBO. He will instead be replaced with several notable directors, including Justin Lin of the "Fast and Furious" franchise as well as Will Friedkin of "The Exorcist." The other directors for the season are still unannounced at the moment.
HBO is expected to release "True Detective" season 2 sometime in summer this year.
