"Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon" fans will have to wait a little while before they get their hands on the latest installment of the game, "Wildlands." It is not expected to be released this year, however, and it is anticipated that the game will be featured at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016.
There is still no exact release date available for the game, and it could be anytime between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017. When Ubisoft, the game developer and publisher, had its Q3 earnings report for 2015-2016, it mentioned that "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands" will be included in the 2016-2017 fiscal year, along with several other games.
Crossmap reported that the upcoming game will have its few minutes of fame at the biggest electronic expo happening next month. E3 is one of the best venues to feature electronic products and games from manufacturers, developers and publishers. Ubisoft can present a new gameplay trailer, featured weapons, or additional information about its open-world map.
"Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands" involves highly skilled military operatives known as Ghosts, sent to Bolivia to stop the operations of a major drug cartel. This is the franchise's first take on an open-world environment and players will get a chance to execute missions in different weather and time conditions. The upcoming game will be the 13th game in the franchise.
On a related noted, the company is also expected to officially reveal a new IP at the upcoming event. Alain Martinez, the company's CFO, said that fans will have full information on a new game at E3 2016. Interestingly, CEO Yves Guillemot added that the actual reveal might take place even before E3, though the company gave no further information, GameSpot reported.
E3 2016 is scheduled to happen on June 14 to 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
