'Titanfall 2' release date update: not this year, says Respawn CEO

Despite persistent rumors claiming that "Titanfall 2" will come out at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015, the game is not likely to be seen this month. The CEO of Respawn Entertainment issued a statement that refutes all claims about the alleged release.

In his recent tweet, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella said: "For everyone asking, we aren't showing anything at E3 this year. I'll get to actually see all the games!"

But while this year's release has been denied by Zampella, it does not mean that the sequel to the award-winning first-person shooter game will not come out soon. The exec himself confirmed in an interview with IGN that "Titanfall 2" is indeed being developed.

"So we're working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we're working on that," Zampella told the online game publication back in March. "That's the main focus but we're starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff, too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It'll be multiplatform."

But Zampella told Game Informer that Respawn will go back to the drawing board this year, which is why fans should expect them to be silent about the game for the rest of the year until they manage to get some work done.

"Titanfall" received a lot of pre-release awards from the time that it was announced during the E3 2013, including the Best in Show, Best Original Game, Best Console Game, Best PC Game, Best Action Game, and Best Online Multiplayer game at the E3 2013 Game Critics Awards.

It also received the @Gamer Most Valuable Game Award, GamesRadar Most Valuable Game Award, Official Xbox Magazine Most Valuable Game Award, and PC Gamer Most Valuable Game Award at the Future US E3 2013 Most Valuable Game Awards in the same year.

The original version of the game also received positive reviews from game critics since its release.
