The open world action adventure video game by CD Projekt Red is currently still in development but that does not mean the complete absence of leaks about the gameplay mechanics and other details about "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt." For instance, the developing company has been rumored to be adding a permadeath "insanity" difficulty level to the upcoming title.
During Monday's Twitch stream, the developing team answered a few questions and teased fans of the new difficulty mode.
The permadeath "insanity" difficulty level functions differently from other difficulty modes. For starters, it will be the toughest experience that gamers will endure. As a form of punishment for not displaying sufficient skill while playing the permadeath "insanity" difficulty level, the saved game of the player will allegedly be deleted after their controlled avatar dies for the first time.
"The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings" also featured an "insane" difficulty mode, which severely punished players for failing to complete the storyline but so far, the developer has not introduced something this drastic.
Other games such as "The Evil Within" has followed the same pattern by introducing a "nightmare" mode. Players die with a single strike from an enemy, regardless of how small the resultant damage may be.
While the following report has not been confirmed, it can be speculated that this is one of the reasons why "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" was recently delayed from February to May this year. The delay could also mean sufficient time is being taken to properly debug the game and check for common issues that players' platforms could suffer from.
"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is due to be released on May 19 for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms.
