The original "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" was released in North America on Oct. 26, 2000, and now, a remake of the game is being developed by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS handheld console. "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D"  was announced last November, and Nintendo is hoping to roll out the remake by the first or second quarter of this year.

Like the original, the plot of "Majora's Mask 3D" revolves around Link, who is given only three days to save the land of Termina before it is crushed by its own moon. In his quest, Link is able to harness the power given to him by wearing different masks.

Similar to the "Ocarina of Time" and "Wind Waker" remakes, "Majora's Mask" will feature changes. The primary difference that players will notice between the remake and the original version is that the rehashed version will no doubt be exuding enhanced stereoscopic 3D graphics, along with touchscreen controls, and gyroscopic features.

According to game director Eiji Aonuma, the remake version will also feature altered boss battles along with the addition of fishing to the game. Also, in the original version, gamers are given a notebook in which they could track their controlled avatar's progress along with additional quests in the game. However, since the notebook's content is not all that detailed, gamers would occasionally miss items of interest that they would require as they progress through the game.

Aonuma stated in an interview conducted by GamesMaster, "We were told by [game producer] Mr. Miyamoto that he felt there were a lot of users who finished the original without even noticing all the hidden events scattered around the town. He said that he wanted us to make sure users were more aware of them this time around."

Gamers who have already completed the original version of "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" are stating that the remake will be "dumbed" down. Since Nintendo has not stated any additional gameplay elements, fans will most likely have to judge for themselves when it gets released.
