Star Wars Fighter Squadron mode is adding a new dimension to the upcoming "Star Wars: Battlefront."

The new mode was revealed by the game's developer, DICE, during Gamescom.

Fighter Squadron mode will allow players to fully engage in ship-based combat while playing "Star Wars: Battlefront."

Players will have the option of choosing different ships from the "Star Wars" franchise. Players can even select to pilot ships coming from either the Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance, according to the CNet.

As of now, a few ships have already been confirmed to be available for Fighter Squadron mode, and the list includes A-Wings, X-Wings, TIE Fighters, and also TIE Interceptors. Players can even choose to pilot iconic spacecrafts such as the Millenium Falcon and even the Boba Fett's personal favorite, the Slave I, according to Polygon.

Fighter Squadron mode will be capable of hosting up to 20 different players during a single game. The objective for each game can be different. Players may opt to race to see which team can get to 200 kills first. Alternatively, they may choose to go on an all-out fighting frenzy and simply crown the team with most kills at the end of a specified time limit as the winner.

Adding even more complexity to Fighter Squadron mode in "Star Wars: Battlefront" is the fact that players can choose to engage in space and aerial combat across different planets and terrains.

"Star Wars: Battlefront" will provide more than just space and aerial combat to players upon its release. In addition to the newly announced Fighter Squadron mode, players can also explore the vast "Star Wars" galaxy in the game's single player mode.

Fans of the "Star Wars" franchise will also be glad to know that iconic characters such as Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader are also expected to appear in the game.

"Star Wars: Battlefront" will be released on Nov. 17.
