'Star Wars: Battlefront' update: Microtransactions reportedly not part of the game

Microtransactions can be toxic commodities as they relate to video games, and it appears the developers of "Star Wars: Battlefront" want no part of them when it comes to their newest game.

In an interview with Gamespot, design director Niklas Fegraeus of DICE, the game's developer, touched on the issue of microtransactions.

Right from the start, Fegraeus made it clear that there would be no transactions in "Star Wars: Battlefront."

Fegraeus then went on to say that the only way to earn the credits necessary to acquire new items inside "Star Wars: Battlefront" is through the players doing what they need to do and performing well as they go through the game.

Speculation about "Star Wars: Battlefront" possibly integrating microtransactions into its core system arose after it was revealed that the game would feature a two-tiered currency system. Traditionally, that model has been used in games in part to include microtransactions, but does not appear to be the case here.

Fegraeus indicated that players could earn points in the game by completing a variety of tasks and those would then eventually lead them to acquire credits in the long run.

In related news, four new multiplayer modes have been recently unveiled for "Star Wars: Battlefront," IGN reported.

The new game modes that have been recently revealed include, Blast, Cargo, Droid Run, and Supremacy.

Those will be joining the other multiplayer modes that have already been previously revealed for the game, with those being Drop Zone, Fighter Squadron, Hero Battle, and Walker Assault.

DICE has not provided specific details about what fans can expect from the newly revealed game modes, although they will get a chance to learn more about them soon enough.

The beta for "Star Wars: Battlefront" will be starting on Oct. 8 and run through Oct. 12.

The game itself will launch about a month later in North America on Nov. 17.
