Sony Xperia PP10 leaked ahead of 2016 MWC: Mid-range smartphone to be revealed?

The 2016 Mobile World Congress starts this week, and prior to the event in Barcelona, Spain, renowned tipster Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks on Twitter, has leaked details about the smartphone, believed to be a new device from the Sony Xperia lineup.

Blass captioned the photo that the name given to the device, PP10, is still unclear, whether it's the codename or the retail branding. The phone is said to belong to the mid-range category, according to XperiaBlog. When it comes to appearance, the PP10 looks somewhat similar to the Xperia Z5. It has the volume button, power button, and camera shutter all on the right side.

The phone is also said to adopt the fingerprint sensor of the Z5 model. Xperia Blog also noted that the smartphone maker may have used given the phone a new user interface based on its unique lock screen appearance.

Also spotted in the photo is a large, main camera at the back of the brushed metal body. Two speaker cutouts can be found above and below the phone's front display, and TechnoBuffalo speculates that they could be dual speakers.

So far, nothing about the specs of the leaked device has been revealed, but more details should be dropped either within today or this week at the MWC event. Since Sony recently launched the Xperia Z5 lineup, the PP10 is more likely to be a mid-range phone.

Meanwhile, Blass also posted a photo of a device resembling an ear bud and dubbed it as the "Smart Ear." It appears much like a Bluetooth-compatible earpiece and is believed to be unveiled together with the Xperia PP10.

All these devices may or may not be presented at this week's MWC. More details should be provided soon. Speculations are also rife that the date shown on PP10's screen is suggestive that it would be its launch date.
