Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 release date, specs rumors update: Benchmark listing hints on tablet's arrival with 10.5-inch display, Snapdragon 835 chipset

Samsung is about to drop the Galaxy Tab S3 successor in the coming months, according to recent rumors. The South Korean tech firm unveiled the current generation of Galaxy Tab S series almost a year ago, and the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is already overdue. If the recent benchmark listing is any indication, the Galaxy Tab S4 will hit the market soon with a 10.5-inch display, and powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset.

The latest scoop on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 came from the latest GFXBench benchmark listing, which shows that the upcoming top-tier tablet will sport a slightly bigger display compared to its predecessor. The Galaxy Tab S4 is shown to have a 10.5-inch display, larger than the Tab S3's 9.7-inch display. The screen is expected to have a maximum 1,600x2,560 pixels resolution.

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is listed to include an Adreno 540 graphics chip. The GFXBench listing does not specify the mobile processor to be used in the tablet, although the Adreno 540 GPU is known to work in pair with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip. With this, it is highly speculated that the Galaxy Tab S4 will be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon processor used in last year's flagship handsets. This is contrary to some people's expectations that the next-gen tablet from Samsung will also use the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset in the Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones.

To note, the GFXBench listing only shows an unnamed Samsung device with model number SM-T835, and the product is not directly referred as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. Still, based on the model number alone, it can be judged that the tablet is the latest entry in the Galaxy Tab S collection. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 carries the model number SM-T815, while the Galaxy Tab S3 comes with SM-T825.

It was previously tipped that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 will feature 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB built-in storage capacity. The tablet will also have a 12MP rear camera and 8MP front-faced snapper. The Galaxy Tab S4 will run the latest Android 8.0 Oreo update out of the box.
